Terms of Use
Updated October 14, 2026
The short version
- Rori is a focus app. It uses Apple's Screen Time to block the apps you choose. It is a tool to help you, not a promise, and not medical advice.
- Rori needs a Rori Plus subscription, billed by Apple. It renews by itself until you cancel in iPhone Settings. Deleting your Rori account does not cancel it.
- Coins, streaks and rooms are part of the game. They have no cash value.
- Be kind to your friends and play fair. You must be at least 13.
- Questions: hello@rorifocus.com.
1. Who we are, and these terms
Rori is an independent project, run by one person in Minnesota, United States. These terms are an agreement between you and us (not Apple) for the Rori app and the website rorifocus.com. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them. By tapping Continue with Apple or Continue with email you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Rori. How we handle your data is in the Privacy Policy.
2. Who can use Rori
You must be at least 13 years old. You need an Apple device that supports the app, and an account. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so please keep your sign-in safe.
3. What Rori is, and what it is not
Rori is a focus app. You pick apps and set a daily rule, and Rori asks Apple's Screen Time to shield those apps when you reach it. Rori also keeps your streak and coins, and lets you play with friends.
- Rori is not a parental-control product. It is for you to manage your own phone.
- Rori is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat anything. It is not health advice. If you struggle with your attention, your mood or your wellbeing, please talk to a qualified professional. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.
- Blocking relies on Apple's Screen Time, which we do not control. Apple can change it, it can fail, and a determined person can find a way around it. We do not promise that an app is always blocked, never gets through, or stays blocked after you delete Rori or after a phone update.
4. Rori Plus: subscription, trial and billing
Rori needs a Rori Plus subscription. It is an auto-renewing subscription sold by Apple. When you start, the app shows the plan, the length and the price in your currency before you buy. Today the choices are a free trial week, or a low-price first 30 days, and then a yearly plan. Prices and offers can differ by country and can change. What you agree to is what the app and Apple's purchase sheet show at the moment you buy.
- Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. When there is a free trial, the first charge comes when the trial ends.
- Automatic renewal. The subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price of the plan.
- Free trial and first-period offers. An offer like this is for new subscribers and Apple allows it once per Apple ID. If an offer has a free trial, any unused part of it is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Manage or cancel. You can manage your subscription, turn off auto-renew or cancel in your App Store account settings: iPhone Settings, your name, then Subscriptions. You can also open it from Rori's Settings. If you cancel, Rori Plus stays on until the end of the period you paid for.
- Deleting your account does not cancel. If you delete your Rori account, Apple keeps billing the subscription until you cancel it in Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions. Please cancel first or right after.
- Refunds. Apple takes the payment, so Apple decides on refunds. Ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot refund or change a charge made by Apple.
- Restore. If you change phones, use Restore in Rori to bring your subscription back on the same Apple ID.
- Come-back offers. If your subscription ends, Rori may show a one-time come-back price. It works like any other offer: you see the price before you confirm.
If Rori Plus ends, the shields come off and blocking stops. Your account and your friends stay.
5. Coins, streaks and rooms
Coins, streaks, rooms, clothes and league points are items inside the game. They have no cash value, are not property, and cannot be sold, bought, traded or moved to another person or account. Coins are earned by using the app. We may change, rebalance, reset or remove items, prices and rules as the app grows, and a streak can be lost if you break it. Items are kept as part of your account, and go when the account is deleted.
6. Friends and leagues: how to behave
Rori has friends, high fives and weekly leagues, where other people see your name and @username. In return, please:
- Do not abuse, harass, threaten or impersonate anyone, and do not choose a name or @username that is offensive.
- Do not cheat. That includes automation, scripts, changing the clock, using several accounts or any trick to win points or coins you did not earn.
- Do not break the law, attack our servers, or look for a way into other people's accounts.
You can block anyone, and you can report a person from their page in the app. We look at reports. We can warn you, reset points, take away items, or suspend or remove an account that breaks these rules, with or without warning, and without a refund of what you paid Apple. If you think we made a mistake, write to us.
7. Your account
You can sign in with Apple or with a code we email you. Give us true details, and tell us if someone else gets into your account. You can delete your account any time in the app: Settings, then Delete account. What that removes is in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or is used to harm others or Rori.
8. What belongs to whom
The tiger, the animation, the illustrations, the writing and the code of Rori belong to us and are protected by copyright. We give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as the Apple Media Services Terms allow. You may not copy or resell the app or its art, take it apart, or use any of it to train a model or build a rival product. "Rori" is our name. Other names and logos belong to their owners.
9. Other people's services
Rori works with Apple (Screen Time, App Store, Sign in with Apple, push notifications) and uses providers to run the app, as the Privacy Policy lists. Those services come with their own terms and we are not responsible for how they run. Your phone, your network and your mobile or data plan are yours to take care of.
10. Changes to Rori and to these terms
Rori will change over time: features can be added, changed or removed, and the app can be down for a while. We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and for a significant change we will tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using Rori after a change, you accept it. If you do not, you can stop and delete your account.
11. No warranty
Rori is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that Rori will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that it will help you reach any result.
12. Limits of our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits, lost data or lost time, arising from your use of Rori. Our total liability to you for anything connected with the app will not exceed the greater of what you paid for Rori Plus in the 12 months before the claim and one hundred US dollars (US$100). Some places do not allow these limits, and then they apply only as far as the law permits. Nothing here limits any right you have by law that cannot be limited.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute belongs to the state or federal courts sitting in Minnesota. If you live in the EU, the UK or another place whose law gives you the right to bring a claim or to rely on local consumer law at home, that right is untouched by this paragraph.
14. Apple's terms
Rori is also covered by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula) where it applies. This section sets out the terms Apple requires. If anything here conflicts with Apple's Standard EULA, Apple's applies on those points.
- Between you and us. This agreement is between you and us only, not with Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for Rori and its content.
- Scope of license. The license is limited to use of Rori on an Apple-branded product you own or control, under the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms.
- Maintenance and support. We are responsible for any support for Rori. Apple has no duty to give any maintenance or support. To reach us, write to hello@rorifocus.com.
- Warranty. If Rori fails to meet a warranty that applies by law, you may tell Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app, if any. To the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty duty for Rori. Any other claim, loss or cost from a failed warranty is our responsibility, as far as these terms allow.
- Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for any claim by you or anyone else about Rori or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that Rori fails to meet a legal requirement, and consumer-protection or privacy claims.
- Intellectual property. If a third party claims that Rori infringes its intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defense and settlement of that claim.
- Legal compliance. You confirm that you are not in a country under a US government embargo or listed as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You will not export or use Rori in breach of US export and sanctions laws.
- Third-party terms. You must follow the terms of any third-party agreement that applies when you use Rori, such as your mobile or data plan.
- Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement. When you accept it, Apple has the right to enforce it against you as a third-party beneficiary.
